Iran to keep combating US, Israel with greater determination: Velayati

Ali-Akbar Velayati, senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on international affairs, says Iran will continue its fight against the US and the Israeli regime with even greater determination after thwarting their recent conspiracies.

News ID: 2002580

Velayati made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Nouri al-Maliki, an Iraqi politician and the leader of the State of Law coalition, in which, the two sides exchanged views on important regional and international developments, on Tuesday.

Briefing al-Maliki on the recent incidents in Iran, he referred to the statements of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei that the enemy launched the conspiracy with extensive preparations for greater goals but was defeated at the hands of the Iranian nation, as it did during the 12-day-imposed war in June last year.

Velayati warned that the recent conspiracy was not only against Iran but the entire region, adding Iran, Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Palestinian resistance groups, and Ansarullah in Yemen stand firmly against all arrogant powers, especially the Israeli regime.

Stressing the need to hold the US accountable for its actions, he once again referred to Ayatollah Khamenei’s call for the Iranian nation to break the back of conspirators and seditionists, just as they foiled their conspiracies and seditions.

During the conversation, Velayati also congratulated the Iraqi nation for holding successful parliamentary elections and their enthusiastic presence in the electoral process, expressing hope that the new government would strengthen Iraq’s position in the region and beyond.

Stating that Iran wants a progressive and prosperous Iraq, he commended the Iraqi government and people for their determination to expel foreign forces, in order to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For his part, Nouri al-Maliki thanked Velayati for his positive views on Iraq, saying he wished there would be no chaos or conspiracy left in either Iraq or Iran – because any such incident has a direct impact on the entire region./irna
