Sharif made the remarks on Saturday while addressing a graduation ceremony at the Pakistan Naval Academy in the port city of Karachi.

Referring to President Pezeshkian’s visit on June 23, he said the trip reflected the warm and brotherly relations between the two neighboring countries.

He stressed that the outcomes of President Pezeshkian’s visit would further enhance ties between Iran and Pakistan.

Sharif also said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is a great honor for Pakistan and reinforces the country’s determination to establish peace. He was referring to the MoU signed by Iran and the United States earlier in June, which consolidated a ceasefire that paused the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran in late February. The MoU has also paved the way for negotiations between Tehran and Washington for an agreement on Iran’s nuclear issue and the lifting of international and unilateral US sanctions on the country.

Pezeshkian paid his second official visit to Pakistan on Tuesday. During the trip, he held separate meetings with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Sharif./irna
