The trade exchanges between Iran and the UAE via the Port of Jebel Ali, one of the most important ports in the southern Persian Gulf, have been resumed, an official in Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization says.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with IRNA on Saturday, Deputy Head of Iran Trade Promotion Organization for Commercial Services Mohammad Sadegh Ghannadzadeh said that Port of Jebel Ali is one of the most significant southern transit ports of the UAE for trade with Iran.

The majority of trade with Iran used to be conducted through this route, he added.

He noted that during the recent US-Israeli-imposed war against Iran, the shipping and the transit of goods through this port came to a halt.

There are various reports of a backlog of Iranian containers at this port, as Iranian traders have been unable to clear their goods in recent months, he stated.

Following the return of peace to the region, we are witnessing the clearance of goods and containers from this port to Iran, Ghannadzadeh said.

Trade is gradually being done at a moderate pace, he said, expressing hope for returning to the normal pre-war conditions./irna
