Iran, Belarus seek to expand agricultural cooperation

Iran’s agriculture minister has emphasized the need to expand bilateral cooperation with Belarus in the agricultural sector, increase trade between the two countries, and accelerate the convening of their joint agricultural commission.

According to a press release by Iran’s Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh met with Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran Dmitry Kaltsov to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations in agriculture and related industries.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the significant potential of Iran and Belarus in agricultural production, livestock, and agricultural machinery, stressing the importance of increasing trade and facilitating broader economic cooperation.

Key topics included expanding imports and exports of agricultural and livestock products, enhancing cooperation in agricultural machinery, particularly combine harvesters, and exploring new areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The two sides also agreed to expedite the convening of the Iran-Belarus Joint Agricultural Cooperation Commission, describing it as an effective mechanism for implementing agreements, removing obstacles, and deepening technical, economic, and trade ties between Tehran and Minsk.

They also underscored the importance of continuing consultations and strengthening bilateral cooperation to make better use of their respective capacities in agriculture and food security./irna
