Iran says Qatar reopens Al Ruwais port to Iranian goods, resumes sea trade
Qatar has reopened Al Ruwais Port to Iranian goods, allowing maritime trade between the two countries to resume after a roughly five-month suspension, Iran’s commercial attaché in Doha said on Sunday.
According to an announcement by the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Abbas Abdolkhani said cargo shipments between Iran’s Dayyer Port and Qatar’s Al Ruwais Port had restarted following efforts by the Iranian embassy in Doha and coordination with Qatari authorities.
Abdolkhani said Al Ruwais Port is one of the main entry points for Iranian goods into the Qatari market and that the reopening of the route would help facilitate bilateral trade by lowering transportation costs, speeding up deliveries and increasing trade volumes.
He added that expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation remained a shared priority for Tehran and Doha and was being pursued in line with the commitment of senior officials in both countries to strengthen bilateral relations./irna
