Iran’s new envoy to Vietnam submits credentials to President To Lam

Akbar Ghasemi, the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam, presented his credentials to President To Lam on Monday.

During the meeting with the new Iranian ambassador, the Vietnamese president described Iran as a country with a magnificent civilization and rich history. To Lam called for stronger bilateral economic cooperation as the main pillar of mutual relations, alongside the further development of cultural, educational, and tourism collaboration.

To Lam stated that his 2023 visit to Iran opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, adding that Hanoi is fully prepared to deepen mutual cooperation across all fields.

He also welcomed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, expressing hope that this process would bring greater stability and peace to various regions of the world.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador pointed out the diverse capacities and extensive capabilities of both nations. He said that following the recent developments, the geopolitical and strategic position of Iran has significantly elevated, doubling the potential for cooperation between Tehran and Hanoi in all sectors.

Ghasemi also affirmed that Iran stands ready to expand political, economic, parliamentary, commercial, technological, tourism, and cultural cooperation with Vietnam./irna
