In a post on her X account, Fatemeh Mohajerani said over 30 civilians have lost their lives in the recent attacks on southern parts of the country.

She extended her sympathies to the bereaved families, honored the memory of the victims, and said the administration would stand by the people with all available resources.

Describing southern Iran as the country's "beating heart", she stressed its importance to the nation and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to supporting the region in the aftermath of the attacks.

The latest casualties came amid continued military attacks by the US. Iran has condemned Washington for violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17, 2026, which called for an immediate cessation of military operations and the pursuit of a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

In a letter to the United Nations on July 13, Iran's UN ambassador Saeed Iravani urged the Security Council to take action against repeated US violations of the memorandum. He argued that continued military strikes, renewed sanctions and other measures had undermined the agreement and endangered international peace and security.

Iran says recent US attacks have targeted military facilities as well as civilian infrastructure in several provinces, including sites in the country's south. According to Iranian officials, the latest strikes hit multiple locations and caused civilian casualties, prompting a new round of retaliatory operations by the Iranian Armed Forces.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes against US military assets in the region. Iranian statements said the operations targeted American facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, including logistics centers, air defense systems, military infrastructure and aircraft-related facilities./tasnim
