EghtesadOnline: The International Olympic Committee says a three-person panel will have the final say on which Russian athletes can compete at the Rio games.

News ID: 735423

After the IOC had said that the governing bodies of each individual sport would decide if Russian competitors are clean amid claims of state-sponsored doping, it has now said a panel will decide whether to accept or reject rulings on each individual, reports Bloomberg.

The executive board “decided to delegate the final decision on the acceptance of entries of Russian athletes to a Review Panel composed of three IOC Executive Board Members,” the IOC said in a statement on its website Sunday.

The three members of the panel are Ugur Erdener, Claudia Bokel and Juan Antonio Samaranch.

The review panel is due to make a final decision in the coming days, according to the statement.

The games are due to start on Aug. 5.
