Fereydoun Hasanvand made the remarks while referring to a double-urgency bill that has been introduced to Majlis in order to provide a framework for the oil deals.

Speaking to IRNA on Monday, Hasanvand said according to interpretation of the Guardian Council (GC), the deals do not need Majlis approval.

However, he stressed, Majlis has to be informed of all issues being ratified by the government.

Recently, a number of parliamentarians have introduced a double-urgency bill stressing that the country's oil deals should be approved by Majlis.

Five days ago, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani commented on the issue saying according to the interpretation of the GC of the laws, the oil deals with foreign companies do not need Majlis approval.

Larijani made the comment at the Majlis open session on August 10 in response to a question raised by a lawmaker.

Ali Reza Salimi, the lawmaker, said all deals and agreements should be approved by the country's parliament.

The oil deals are ambiguous and have not delivered to Majlis transparently, Salimi said.

He stressed that the Majlis presiding board should gain more information about the contracts.
