Iran to increase pistachio export
EghtesadOnline: Iran’s export of pistachio to 62 countries hit 400,000 tons during the first six months of the Iranian year, which shows % 20 increase comparing to the same time last year.
Seemingly, the implementation of joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and improvement of Iran’s relations with the world countries have affected the international market of this product highly.
During that first six months of the year, Iran has exported more than 40.000 tons pistachio for $381 million to more than 62 countries all across the world, which shows 20 percent increase comparing to the same time last year.
According to ISNA, a member of Iran's Pistachio Association (IPA) Farhad Agah has already said the IPA estimated that annual pistachio production would reach 170,000 tons by 2017, of which about 80 percent would be exported.
Iran is a top pistachio producer and exporter. Traditionally, Iran has a strong clout in the pistachio market and the hope has risen that the country will be able to dominate global markets.
