President Rouhani, Venezuelan counterpart meet in Tehran

EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said Iran would support any measures aimed at stabilizing the oil market.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with his visiting Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro. 

He also cited coordination and technical cooperation among the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC producers as essential, according to IRNA.

President Rouhani added Iran supports the fair price and the equitable share of the producers in the oil market. 

Touching upon the unique situation of Latin American countries, Venezuela, in particular in Iran's foreign policy, President Rouhani reiterated that Tehran attaches great importance to expansion of mutual relations with Caracas.

Referring to the importance of terrorism as an important issue in the region and necessity of fostering cooperation and consultation with all countries, he added terrorism is considered as a global dilemma. 

He added the instrumental use of terrorist groups by global powers would backfire. 

Maduro, for his part, said Caracas is keen on expanding its all-out ties with Tehran, calling for expansion of cooperation among the OPEC and non-OPEC producers . 

Venezuelan president also reiterated that a new mechanism should be considered for stabilizing the oil price.

Commenting on the upcoming OPEC meeting to be held in Vienna, he said the oil producing countries should seek a fair cooperation aimed at stabilizing the oil price. 

Touching upon Iran-Venezuela agreement in economic, political and cultural arenas, Maduro called for implementation of the mutual deals as soon as possible. 

Maduro arrived Tehran on late Saturday evening.
