Official: Iran set to become a regional energy hub

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Alireza Daemi said on Monday that the country has the capacity to become a regional energy hub by the end of the Sixth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2015-2020).
Speaking in a gathering in Tehran, Daemi underscored that establishment of an electricity market among Iran and its neighboring countries would pave the ground for the country to turn into a regional energy hub.
He added Iran has been the main electricity supplier of several regional countries including Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Republic for many years, IRNA reported.
Daemi reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys huge advantages and potentials for exporting electricity to other countries.
