Nourbakhsh Banking Innovation Awards Presented
EghtesadOnline: The Nourbakhsh Award ceremony was held Wednesday on the sidelines of the Eighth Conference on Electronic Banking and Payment Systems organized by the Monetary and Banking Research Institute.
The annual event is held to honor innovators in electronic banking fields and is the most prestigious of its kind with winners usually receiving their awards from the governor of the Central Bank of Iran.
According to the website of the conference, the awards were presented to owners of superior ideas depending on novelness, applicability and profitability.
Mohsen Nourbakhsh was an economist and former minister of economy (1989-93) who was appointed as CBI chief for two terms (1981-86 and 1994-2003), according to Financial Tribune.
As the research arm of the central bank, MBRI holds the event to commemorate his distinguished career by promoting companies that offer successful and innovative ideas.
Held during the closing ceremony of the E-banking conference, the event was attended by senior banking and technology officials, including Ablonaser Hemmati, the CBI chief and MBRI Director Ali Divandari.
In the intra-bank innovation category, Noavaran Amin, a technology company specializing in financial information processing won the award for Corporate Risk Assessment System.
The system known also by its Persian acronym, “Arash” is a financial ranking system claimed by its developer to give a precise estimation of the probability of defaults. Additionally, the mechanism is said to assess credit risk for a time period ranging from 20-32 months.
In the same category, the Customers’ Cost Benefits Analyzing System, designed by Bank Saderat Iran, was found eligible for the top prize.
In the platform category, Ertebat Farda Electronics Trading Company was awarded for creating the platform Finotech Digital Change.
Tosan Group won the top award in customers’ systems category for Process-Based E-Banking System. In the same category, Bank Malli Iran won the award for its '60 One-time Password' application.
Sepand (Persian acronym for Structured Periodic Payment System), owned by Informatics Services Corporation received the National Payment System (NPS) award.
Hasin Gheshm won the security and infrastructure award for its Cerebone CS-800—a localized version of hardware security module (HSM). According to the company website, the localized HSM is designed to monitor and safeguard banking data against breaches during sanctions.
In equipment and hardware category, GSS International won for designing and building the artificial intelligence robot. GSS International's website claims the robot can process all sorts of the debit-card based banking services such as balance checking, money transfers, buying cellphone recharge, etc.
Iran Kish Credit Card was awarded in the social responsibility category for its special payment service designed for the blind operated via its PUT payment platform. PUT functions include paying utility bills, paying for purchases and money transfer between credit cards.
