News ID: 746721

School transport companies must fix special labels and QR codes on their vehicles for the system to function. Moreover, the cars, vans, busses…should also be equipped with GPS trackers, sharing their real-time location with the platform, Mehr News Agency reported.

Parents can scan the QR code on their smart phone to get updated information about the driver and his work permit.

Parents are then required to create an account on the service website and submit the driver's information. After that they will be able to track and monitor the transport service live, according to Financial Tribune.

Amir Samimi a faculty member at the university says, "The system can be programmed to send notifications to school management, drivers, and parents when, for instance, the driver is getting close to a school or the students' homes, or when there is a road mishap or the vehicle breaks down."

The system is yet to be commercially launched.

In line with the goal of augmenting the quality of school transport with the help of modern technology, the platform will also provide a detailed resume of the drivers both to parents and schools.

Some smartphone applications with the same features and capabilities have been already launched by Iranian tech teams, including 'Tico'.

According to a local NGO, Parents and Teachers Association, in the last Iranian year (ended in March 2018) close to 1.3 million students in urban areas and 400,000 in rural areas used school transport services.
