Iran, Azerbaijan sign MoU on transport cooperation
EghtesadOnline: Iran and Azerbaijan inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on transport cooperation.
According to ISNA, the MOU was signed in presence of the Iranian and Azeri officials in charge of transit and transport and road maintenance departments of the two countries.
Managing Director for international transit and transport of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and Chairman of the two-day conference Mohammad Javad Atrchian said that Iran-Azerbaijan joint commission on land transport was held to develop cooperation on land transport between two countries.
He said that both sides agreed on systematic exchange of information and statistics about transport of passengers and goods.
Regarding the tolls paid by freight and passenger fleet, Atrchian said that the two sides agreed to unify the tolls.
Atrchian added that the Azeri side announced that except for dangerous goods, $160 will be received to pass the border, $80 to use the territory for 14 days, $40 for insurance and $25 to enter big cities like Baku, Ganja and Sumqayit.
He made clear that the tolls to transfer dangerous goods will be received based on
European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and those good which are not considered as dangerous by Iran will be announced to Azerbaijan.
He said that issues like X-Ray costs and GPS installation will be discussed in future meetings of the joint economic commission or in the upcoming customs expert meetings between two countries.
