Iran crude steel production rises up by 11.3 pc in June: WSA
EghtesadOnline: Iran crude steel production in June was 1.590 million tons up by 11.3 percent compared to the preceding period, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said on Saturday citing report of the World Steel Association (WSA).
While world production average in first half of the year 2016 decreased around two percent, crude steel production in Iran rose up by 5.2 percent and reached 8.806 million tons, according to WSA report.
According to the WSA, amount of crude steel production in 66 countries in the first half of the year in comparison with the same period of preceding year amounted to 794.800 million tons down by 1.9 percent.
In the Middle East, production of crude steel stood by 13.823 million tons in the first six months of 2016 down by 3.2 percent in comparison with the same period of past year, reports IRNA.
Crude steel production in European Union was 82.745 million tons in the same period, down by 6.1 percent compared with preceding year.
Crude steel production in Asia stood by 545.661 million tons down by one percent in this period.
Iran upon its vision plan 1404 is to increase its production to 55 million tons. It is currently producing half of the amount.
IMIDRO announced that total export of steel in past year was more than 4.100 million tons. It is regarded as a record over the past 50 years.
