Iran, Armenia to boost electricity exchange: Minister
EghtesadOnline: In a meeting with Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Levon Yolyan, Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian called for boosting electricity imports and exports.
Chitchian said that based on peak consumption seasons in the two countries, Iran is ready to import electricity in summer and increase exports in winter, reports IRNA.
He added that Iran's regional policy is to develop ties and convergence with neighboring countries and it is hoped that Iran and Armenia will strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.
Referring to both countries relations in energy sector, he noted that Iran plans to implement the third line of linking Iran's electricity network to Russia through Armenia and Georgia and boosting gas exports to Armenia, which is a promising future for this sector.
Touching upon Iran-Armenia joint economic commission agreement, Levon Yolyan reiterated that there are some projects in energy sector which should be implemented with both countries' cooperation.
He referred to Armenia's interest in exporting electricity to Iran, saying that Armenia electricity network is capable of boosting transfer capacity.
