Iran interested in cooperating with NASA

EghtesadOnline: Head of the Iranian space agency Mohsen Bahrami said Iran is interested and ready to cooperate with NASA.

His remarks came at a press conference at the beginning of World Space Week, where he stated that many in the world look at NASA's programs, adding Iran is interested in having cooperation since, “When you are in orbit, there is no country and race.”

Bahrami noted that Iran’s civil space program is both powerful and peaceful, making cooperation possibly mutually beneficial, underlining, “"We have capabilities and we are part of an international scene, “Iranian official underlined, reports ISNA.

He went on to say that the next planned step would be to send three domestically-made satellites into the orbit by the end of next year.

Iran says that sending its satellites into orbit is a matter of safety. The nation, which is prone to destructive earthquakes, has a vital interest in improving telecommunications and monitoring natural disasters.

Since 1999, World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. More than 1,800 events in 73 countries celebrated the benefits of space and excitement about space exploration in 2015.

4 to 10 October has been declared as the World Space Week to celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.
