Speaking to Deutsche Welle TV on Thursday, Ebtekar said the belligerent parties in Syria should look for diplomatic solutions rather than war in order to put an end to civil war in the country.

She told the German media that an appalling calamity is taking place in Syria and the reason is the terrorists, who are supplied with arms and military equipments by certain states, according to IRNA.

“The key to Syrian conflict is only diplomatic as we have done it rightly.”

She said the most important point is that terrorists are supplied with arms and certain countries have not realized this well.

She also called Saudi coalition in war on Yemen as a fiasco and said only women and children are its victims.

On nuclear talks, Ebtekar said President Hassan Rouhani turned Iran president in 2013, when the country was in difficulty.

“Though he managed to bring nuclear talks to a result,” she said.

“We hope soon implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by the other party. Iran complied with it and the other party is expected to follow suit,” she said.

Ebtekar, during the interview, also touched on conditions of women in Iran, while ruling aside wrong claims by Western media that women rights were subject to hostility.

“That’s what the West claims and the way it is presented is totally wrong. The broad picture on our community shows that women are progressing. Presently women constitute for 60 percent of those admitted to universities and half the policy makers are women,” she said.

“Of course, there are certain points where reforms need to be made. However, we should understand that we are living in a Muslim community. There are special norms prevalent in connection with honor and dignity of women,' she added.

'This does not mean limiting women.”
