Rouhani: Nuclear deal result of Leader's prudence

'The JCPOA was a victory and the result of 10 to 12 years of resistance by the Iranian people against brutal sanctions,' President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday during his 32nd provincial tour visiting Markazi provincial capital, Arak.

President Rouhani urged the opportunities created following implementation of the nuclear deal should be properly exploited, reports IRNA.

He said that foreign visits by the Iranian officials all aimed at reviving the economy.

'Why should some regional countries which similar to Iran, have the same long history, have more than 200 billion dollars worth of annual exports, while Iran has only 50 billion dollars of annual exports?' asked the President.

President Rouhani also referred to the new atmosphere of engagement between Iran and the world countries.

'In the past, world countries were competing to threaten and put Iran under pressure and to impose sanctions on it,' he said.

'Now, however, everybody is rushing to establish ties with the Islamic Republic,' he added.

The President said that all major obstacles in order for us to engage more with the world countries have been removed.

'We have managed to reestablish banking ties with the world and we are increasingly promoting our ties with the world countries,' he said.

'The JCPOA meant to secure the rights of the Iranian people, it meant to let us export the heavy water produced in our Arak nuclear facility, it meant to let us export the UF6 produced at our Natanz nuclear fuel enrichment plant and it meant to let us freely export the country's petroleum, natural gas, petrochemical products and gas condensates.'
