President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Ugandan Parliament Speaker Rebecca Alitwala on the sidelines of the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) that is underway in Tehran.

According to IRNA, President Rouhani said Zionist regime has been striving to sideline and put into oblivion the issue of Palestine. “Conditions of the region and of the world necessitate all voice support for the oppressed Palestinian nation with a louder voice.”

He said the countries, interested in restoration of rights of the Palestinian people, should remain beside each other and launch joint efforts to reach their important goal.

Terming Iran-Uganda relations “forward looking”, President Rouhani welcomed further expansion of Tehran-Kampala relations.

He noted that the ground should be paved for the presence of the Iranian companies in Africa, especially Uganda, with an aim to promote joint banking cooperation.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been adhering aspirations of the Palestinian people, striving for materialization of the aspirations.”

Alitwala, for her part, thanked Iran for successfully holding the Tehran meeting, and said Iran has always been adhering to the aspirations of the Palestinian people, striving for their materialization.

She said Palestine issue is among the essential and key issues of all Muslims and freedom-seeking Muslims. “We believe in absolute defense of Palestinian nation, needing more voices other than the loud voice of Iran.”

She asked for more extensive presence of Iranian companies to further implement industrial, agricultural, health, medication and energy projects in Uganda.
