2 New Border Crossings on Iran-Pakistan Border
EghtesadOnline: Two border crossings, one in Pishin and another in Rimdan, both located in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province, will be opened on Iran-Pakistan border within two months, said Iran’s consul general in Quetta, the provincial capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan.
“Gwadar, a port city on the southwestern coast of Balochistan, will host the 21st session of Iran-Pakistan Border Commission, scheduled to be held in September,” Mohammad Rafiei was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Rafiei noted that trade between the two neighboring countries currently stands at less than $1 billion per year.
“Smuggling of goods and fuel (from Iran to Pakistan) is one of the main reasons preventing the growth of legal bilateral trade. Therefore, we need to make our common border more secure,” Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.
