Iran, Uzbekistan hold political meeting at deputy FMs-level

EghtesadOnline: Deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Uzbekistan held political negotiations in Tashkent.

During this meeting which was held after 7 years pause, both sides exchanged views over regional and international cooperation as reviewed the latest situation of bilateral relations in political, trade, transport, tourism, and investment fields, ISNA reported.

Referring to Tehran’s readiness for developing bilateral relations, Iranian deputy foreign minister Ebrahim Rahimpour said: “Iran tries to connect Uzbekistan to international water and facilitate its aviation, road and rail transport and will study any offer from Tashkent”.

Mentioning to the investments made in Chabahar port and rail lines leading to the port, he added: “the investments have been made to more central Asian countries achieve international sea. When the projects would be completed, Uzbekistan access to international sea will be run shorter and bilateral rail cooperation will be promoted”.

Uzbek deputy foreign minister in his part pointed to the importance of developing relations with Iran and said: “our president stresses on expanding relations with Tehran especially in economic field”.

“Related institutions were ordered to review the obstacles in the way of developing bilateral relations and come to appropriate solutions,” he added.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to hold 12th Joint Economic Commission between the two countries in near future.
