Iran’s FM, Turkmenistan’s president meet in Ashgabat
EghtesadOnline: Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif within the framework of a three-nation tour to Central Asia arrived in Ashgabat and met Turkmenistan's president Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
During this meeting, they discussed the strategists for expanding ties.
Zarif told reporters in Ashgabat Airport that his ministry will endeavor to help implement Resistance Economy as emphasized by the Supreme Leader, according to ISNA.
Upon arrival in Ashgabat Airport, Zarif was welcomed by Turkmen deputy foreign minister Hajiev and the Iranian ambassador in Turkmenistan.
His talks with his Turkmen counterpart and other top-ranking officials will be held on Monday.
On the objectives of Iranian delegation visit to the three countries, he said, "We have potential for transit cooperation with Georgia to connect Black Sea to the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean, a very desirable way for future of transit".
He emphasized that export of technical and engineering services was also on the agenda.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has named the current Iranian year as the "Year of Production and Employment" and helping implement the issue will be essential for foreign ministry.
"We are seeking to prepare the ground for boosting non-oil exports as well as technical and engineering services to neighboring countries," he said, noting that the visiting Iranian delegation includes experts from the state-run and private sectors to examine the countries potentials.
The trip took place on the eve of the 25th independence anniversary of these countries and 25 years after Iran’s diplomatic ties with them, he said, noting both occasions will be observed in the three countries.
On the probability of signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and accords in the upcoming talks, Zarif said, "We have inked many MoUs with these countries and we will endeavor to implement them".
