Zarif: Free trade shows satisfactory Iran-Chile ties
EghtesadOnline: Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Chilean Senate Vice-President Guido Girardi on Tuesday said that existing free trade between the two countries is a sign of good Tehran-Santiago ties.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, during the meeting, Zarif pointed to different grounds for mutual cooperation between the two countries and called presence of a Chilean parliamentary delegation in Iran as a good beginning, IRNA reported.
Girardi said the aim of his visit to Iran is consolidation of relations and expansion of scientific and technologic ties between the two states.
He said Iran and Chile are two important countries in their own geographical locations, adding that policies of some world powers concerning Iran are inefficient.
Senator Guido Girardi, who arrived in Tehran at the head of a parliamentary delegation, met Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Majlis Vice-Speaker Masoud Pezeshkian and Head of Majlis national security and foreign policy commission Aladdin Boroujerdi on Monday and discussed development of relations and expansion and deepening of ties between Iran and Chile.
