Date Exports to 76 Countries
EghtesadOnline: About 81,580 tons of different kinds of dates worth close to 2.7 billion (more than $82.82 million) were exported from Iran to 76 countries during the five months to August 22, based on figures released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.
The main customer of Iranian dates over the period was Pakistan with nearly $11.8 million worth of purchases.
Other main export destinations for the product were India, Iraq, Turkey, Germany, Canada, the United States, the UAE, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Mizan reported.
Dates production reached 1.2 million tons in the Iranian year ending March 2017, making Iran the second largest cultivator of the sweet product in the world, after Egypt, according to Financial Tribune.
Iran also ranked as the top exporter, beating strong exporters such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
