Official explains details of German €3b, Japan $10b for railway

EghtesadOnline: Deputy Head of Railway Company for planning and economy of transport affairs Nourollah Beiranvand explained details of Germany's three-billion-euro and Japan's 10-billion-dollar finance on Saturday.

He added that now Iran is negotiating with a number of foreign companies to provide signaling systems for railway network, including Tehran-Tabriz railway as well as leasing for railway fleet.

According to IRNA, Beiranvand said that the Germany's 3-billion-euro finance includes a series of proposed packages of different projects like supplying diesel and electric locomotives from Siemens as well as providing signaling system and communications for high-speed railway and building Isfahan express line and electric locomotive for Tehran-Mashad railway.

He added that the Germans proposed to provide passenger wagons, which Railway Company depended its participation on producing wagons inside the country, so there is no agreement so far on Germany's proposal in this concern.

Concerning Japanese 10-billion-dollar finance, Beiranvand said that negotiation on providing signaling systems for part of railway network, including Tehran-Tabriz railway and leasing of railway fleet.

He said that Iran interested Japanese participation in project of Express Railway and other infrastructural projects in different areas of the country.

Beiranvand said that the contract to electrify Garmsar-Inche Boroun electric railway has been finalized and beginning of the the operation depends on inter-banking agreement.

Government intends to increase Iran's 11,000-kilometer railway network to more than 25,000, so they are negotiating with different big foreign companies to finance purchasing fleet and executing express railway network.
