PMO Outlines 2022 Targets

EghtesadOnline: The Ports and Maritime Organization plans to increase Iranian ports’ container capacity from 5.94 million TEUs in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2018) to 9 million TEUs by the end of the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (March 2022).

As stipulated in the plan, PMO, affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, has to increase the nominal port capacity of Iranian ports to 270 million tons from 227 million tons last year, the ministry’s official website reported. 

The organization also aims to increase passenger transportation capacity from last year’s 24 million to 27 million by March 2022.

PMO plans to increase marine passenger seats to 11,000 from 9,300 last year and to reduce the age of its passenger fleet to 12.5 years, according to Financial Tribune. 

Iran’s development plans determine budgetary goals every five years.
