SCI: Single-Digit Inflation Rates in 26 Provinces

EghtesadOnline: The Statistical Center of Iran has announced the latest inflation rates for the country’s 31 provinces.

The report shows 26 provinces posted single-digit inflation rates while western provinces registered the highest inflation rates of over 10%. 

The goods and services Consumer Price Index for Kermanshah in the 12-month period ending April 20, which marks the end of the Iranian month of Farvardin, increased by 10.9% compared with last year’s corresponding period—the highest of all provinces.

CPI of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari increased by 10.6%; Ilam by 10.3%; Lorestan by 10.2% and North Khorasan by 10%, according to Financial Tribune. 

On the other hand, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Bushehr, Sistan-Baluchestan, Zanjan and Fars registered the lowest inflation rates of 6.4%, 6.5%, 6.6%, 6.7% and 6.8%, respectively. 

According to SCI, Kermanshah, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, Ilam, North Khorasan and Lorestan registered double-digit inflation rates while 18 provinces posted inflation rates of less than the average 8.1%. 

Inflation rates of between 8.1% and 9.9% have been registered for eight provinces. 

The overall goods and services Consumer Price Index in Iran in Farvardin increased by 8.1% compared with last year’s corresponding period. SCI had put the inflation rate for the preceding month of Esfand, which ended on March 20 at 8.2%.

The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) stood at 112.9 in Farvardin, indicating a 1.3% rise compared with the previous month. The index registered a year-on-year increase of 7% compared with the similar month of last year.

As the country’s average monthly rise in prices was 1.3%, Kermanshah has registered the monthly inflation growth rate of 2.2%, the highest among all. 

The index registered the highest year-on-year increase of 11% for Hamedan among all provinces compared with the similar month of last year.
