Iran Khodro Expanding Presence in Iraqi Market
EghtesadOnline: Iran’s largest carmaker, Iran Khodro, is set to export 6,000 cars equipped with automatic transmission to Iraq, during the current fiscal which ends in March 2019.
Two locally designed sedan models namely Samand and Dena along with Peugeot 405 produced in Iran and through a joint venture between IKCO and Peugeot are to be exported to Iraq which is a major target market for Iranian automotive industries.
“Given the warm welcome of the neighboring country toward IKCO products with automatic gearboxes, we have decided to increase the export of such products to the country,” Hassan Golchubian, IKCO’s exports director for the Middle East and Africa, was quoted as saying in a report published by the company’s press office.
He described Dena as one of the most coveted vehicles in the Iraqi market and said through putting the model equipped with automatic gearboxes on offer, the export level will be boosted significantly, according to Financial Tribune.
Golchubian pointed to IKCO’s sustained efforts to offer quality after-sales services and facilities, aimed at securing a larger share in the Middle East market as part of the company’s strategy in foreign countries.
He further talked about the significance of identifying profitable markets, mentioning Nigeria as one of the potential export destinations for IKCO products in the coming months.
Iraq is Iran’s biggest market for exporting vehicles. IKCO and SAIPA, Iran’s two largest automakers, have been exporting cars to the neighboring country for years.
