Apple Exports Exceed 600K Tons
EghtesadOnline: Iran exported about 605,000 tons of apples during the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2018), up by more than 71% compared to the year before, Mohammad Ali Tahmasebi, deputy agricultural minister for horticultural affairs, announced.
A total of 3.7 million tons of apples are produced in Iran annually, 600,000 tons of which from summer and the rest from the autumn yield. West Azarbaijan Province produces the highest amount of apples in the country with 1.2 million tons, Fars News Agency reported. According to the official, latest statistics show that the country exported more than 90,000 tons of apples during the first two months of the current fiscal year (started March 21), according to Financial Tribune.
