Tehran Hosts ‘SME Iran 2018’
EghtesadOnline: A three-day exhibition called ‘SME Iran 2018’ opened in Tehran on Sunday in a ceremony attended by Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari and Speaker of Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani.
More than 1,200 SMEs, including those from 15 countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia and South Korea to name a few, are showcasing their latest products and services in a wide range of fields, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, toiletries, chemicals, metals, foodstuff, home appliances and construction material, IRNA reported.
Iranian businesspeople and their foreign counterparts are holding B2B talks during the event, on the sidelines of which 10 workshops have been planned.
Iranian SMEs exported $2.3 billion worth of products in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2018), according to Financial Tribune.
According to Farshad Moqim, the deputy head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization, 98,562 jobs were created, 2,575 new industrial units became operational and 1,462 shuttered units were helped back on their feet during the period.
By definition, enterprises run by 50 workers or less and 100 workers or less are considered small- and medium-sized enterprises respectively, according to ISIPO.
