Araqchi Meets Top Russian Diplomats in Moscow
EghtesadOnline: Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who was in Moscow to attend a non-proliferation conference, met senior Russian diplomats on Saturday.
In a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, the two sides discussed issues related to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, including Tehran’s measures to reduce its commitment to the agreement in response to the reimposed US sanctions and Europe’s failure to meet its obligations under the international agreement, ISNA reported.
In a separate meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is also the special presidential representative for the Middle East and Africa, the two officials discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.
Discussions focused on the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, as well as initiatives proposed by Tehran and Moscow to promote regional peace and security, according to Financial Tribune.
Araqchi was scheduled to deliver a speech at the event, which is themed "Nuclear Energy, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation."
He was also expected to elaborate on the latest developments regarding the nuclear deal in a specialized discussion panel attended by Ryabkov, Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid and Director General of the Department of Arms Control of China’s Foreign Ministry Fu Cong.
