Power, Water Supply Capacity Increases in Western Regions

The projects include a power plant and water distribution network in rural areas, the Energy Ministry news portal Paven reported.

The first 310 megawatt gas unit of Dalahoo Combined Cycle Power Plant in Eslamabad-e-Gharb County was inaugurated.

With a total capacity of 910 MW, the power plant has two 310 MW class F gas units and a 290 MW steam unit, according to Financial Tribune.

The plant has an efficiency rate of 56% and domestic manufactures provided half the equipment used in the plant built for the western regions.

A second gas unit will come on stream in February and the steam unit will be operational in summer. The entire project is estimated to cost $400 million.

An undertaking of the private sector, the plant is owned and constructed by Farab Company that has built several power plants and is active in oil, gas and petrochemical projects plus construction of water, wastewater treatment and desalination plants.

One project was for water supply to 55 villages in Kermanshah, Sahneh, Ravansar and Sarpol-e-Zahab counties.

Costing a million dollars, the project entailed laying 105 kilometers of pipelines. With the launch of this project, 12,000 people in the rural areas have access to safe water.

Construction of two water treatment plants for Saqqez and Sahneh counties started on Tuesday.

The two units will cost $1 million and will cover 110,000 people in the region.
