Tehran, Baku Seeking to Boost Ties
EghtesadOnline: Iranian and Azeri officials met in Baku to explore avenues to bolster relations between the two neighboring states.
The meeting was held between Mojtaba Zonnour, chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, and Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Wednesday, Fars News Agency reported.
Both sides reaffirmed that there is a great capacity for further development of cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to the new conditions created in the region after the recent crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, which was defused by a ceasefire deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan Republic, as well as new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, both sides stressed the need to adopt measures to press ahead with the implementation of joint economic projects.
Zonnour had earlier reviewed ways to expand parliamentary ties with the first deputy speaker of Azeri Parliament, Ziyafat Asgarov.
He highlighted joint efforts for the development of the north-south and south-west international transport corridors and Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields.
