SCI Conducts Livestock Head Count
EghtesadOnline: A total of 5.3 million lambs and 2.2 million goat kids were born during the first quarter of the current year (March 21-June 21), the Statistical Center of Iran reported.
There were 52.9 million head of sheep and lambs, and 18.1 million head of goats and goat kids at country’s livestock farms in the Iranian month ending June 21, indicating a decrease of 1.9% and 1.1% compared with Q4 of last year (ended March 20).
The highest number of lightweight livestock was submitted to slaughterhouses in the first quarter of the current year compared with the past seven quarters (Q3 of fiscal 2019-20 onward), including 4.5 million head of sheep and lambs, and 1.1 million head of goats and goat kids.
