During the visit of Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, from the construction projects in the Sistan and Baluchistan Province, the end of operation for excavating the tunnels along the Chabahar-Khash Railway project with the length of 17 km was announced.

By now, more than 65 percent of the 631-km long Chabahar-Zahedan Railway project is completed.

Chabahar-Zahedan Railroad in Iran (about 630 km) is the largest infrastructure project in the east of Iran and is very strategic along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as it provides rail connectivity to the ocean port of Chabahar.

Upon completion, the Chabahar-Zahedan-Sarakhs Railroad will connect the Indian Ocean to the Central Asian countries through railway via Sarakhs Border.

Chabahar-Zahedan Railway starts from Chabahar and passes through Iranshahr, Khash, Zahedan, Nehbandan, Birjand, Qaen and Gonabad and connects to Bafaq-Mashhad Railway through Kaleshur Station in Torbat Heydarieh. So, once completed, Sistan and Baluchistan will be connected to Iran's and regional countries' railway networks.

In November 2022, the seventh and eighth parts of Chabahar-Zahedan Railroad as the largest railway project in Iran was inaugurated, which stretches from Zahedan to Khash. It is 155 km with 1 tunnel, 12 large bridges, 21 level crossings, and 7 stations.

The speed is 90 km/h for freight trains and 120 km/h for passenger trains.
About 830 km of the International North-South Transport Corridor is located in the Sistan and Baluchistan Province.

Additionally, in this visit, 96 kilometers of main roads were inaugurated in this Province with 30,000 billion IRR credit. Now from 2100 km of main roads (excluding the rural roads), 1850 km is already operated. / Mehr
