EghtesadOnline: A total of 70 trillion rials ($285 million) have been spent on repairing roads, patching asphalts and constructing asphalt roads in rural areas since the beginning of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2020), says Daryoush Amani, the head of Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization.

EghtesadOnline: Iran has a total of 217,000 kilometers of roads, for the maintenance of which 9 trillion rials ($600 million) are needed per year, the deputy head of Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization of Iran said.

EghtesadOnline: One of the reasons behind road accidents in Iran is the declining budget of the Islamic Republic of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization–the executive arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the spokesperson of Majlis Development Commission, Sodeif Badri, said.

EghtesadOnline: The government has given the go-ahead to Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization to issue 6 trillion rials ($136 million) of Islamic debt securities to finance its operations.
