EghtesadOnline: The Central Bank of Iran has disclosed the latest statistics on the number and value of bank checks, which indicate a monthly rise and yearly decrease in the number and value of bounced checks.

EghtesadOnline: About 9.4 million checks worth about 625 trillion rials ($14.2 billion) were transacted in Azar, the ninth Iranian month ending Dec. 21, of which more than 1.4 million checks worth about 135 trillion rials ($3.06 billion) bounced.

EghtesadOnline: More than 9.6 million checks worth more than 615 trillion rials ($14.5 billion) were transacted during the eighth Iranian month of Aban (ended Nov. 21), of which 1.5 million checks worth 138 trillion rials ($3.27 billion) bounced.

EghtesadOnline: A total of 9.9 million checks worth about 615 trillion rials ($15 billion) were transacted in the seventh Iranian month Mehr (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), of which 1.6 million checks worth about 131 trillion rials ($3.3 billion) bounced, data published by the Central Bank of Iran on its official website show.

EghtesadOnline: While 14 years have passed since the last time the law on checks was reformed in Iran, the head of Central Bank of Iran’s Information Technology Department announced that the law is to be amended again following negotiations with parliamentarians.
