EghtesadOnline: Islamabad appreciates Tehran's efforts to provide it with electricity and is hopeful of renewing its power import agreement.

EghtesadOnline: Power distribution companies guarantee the purchase of renewable electricity as representatives of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, also known as Satba. Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company ( Tavanir ) issued a directive on Saturday based on which domestic electricity companies will assume the responsibility of buying renewable power plants’ output for 20 years, ISNA reported.

EghtesadOnline: A consortium of Iranian and Chinese companies will implement the first phase of an extensive national plan to refurbish Iran’s aging electrical infrastructure, including the reconditioning of over 312 substations, Arash Kordi, managing director of Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company ( Tavanir ), said.

EghtesadOnline: In line with efforts to set up a regional power grid, Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company, known as Tavanir , is in talks to synchronize Iran's electricity network with that of Iraq in a collaboration that could potentially be extended to other neighbors, the company's managing director said.

EghtesadOnline: In an effort to curtail electricity consumption and alleviate power demand that soared to record-high levels in recent days, Iran Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company ( Tavanir ) said it is charging consumers based on different consumption brackets, with the largest consumers charged up to three times the tariffs levied on regular users.

EghtesadOnline: Plans are underway to build new power plants with distributed generation (DG) system and a capacity of 4,000 megawatts during the sixth five-year economic development plan (2016-21).
