EghtesadOnline: Only weeks after the world heard news of a revival in Iran’s ambitious plans to get a foothold in the global market of liquefied natural gas (LNG), speculations are now emerging that the country’s first consignments of the strategic fuel could flow to markets in 12 months’ time.

EghtesadOnline: Iran could export its first liquefied natural gas cargo from the Persian Gulf as early as next year, if it presses ahead with its proposed floating LNG production project.

EghtesadOnline: With natural gas prices closely associated with movements in global crude oil benchmarks, it is not economically viable to export gas as long as oil is struggling at around $50 a barrel.
