Air fleet investment changes Iran’s economy

EghtesadOnline: Investing on ATR aircrafts is a major change in activating Iran's domestic airports as well as promoting tourism and entrepreneurship, says an American university professor considering the government's successful deeds on renewing Iran’s air fleet.

“Investing and purchasing ATR aircrafts can lead to promoting tourism everywhere in the country due to providing access to the country's low-income markets,' says Dr. Ali Dadpay, professor of economics at St. Edward's University, Austin, the US.

'I can say with no doubt that this government has been the first one to take right measures to exploit Iran's tourism potentials by renewing the air fleet, improving foreign relations, and activating the airports for foreign airliners' use,” Dadpay said pointing to the high income of the transit of goods by airplane.

'We need a national project to create jobs in all cities and towns regarding the issue of renewing the national air fleet,” he said stressing that “aerial transportation and developing airports’ infrastructures are those rare sections capable of creating wealth and entrepreneurship'.

“Developing and renewing aerial fleet can have great impact on Iran’s economy, a country with numerous historical cities and towns which are highly tourist attractions,' he said referring to Kish Island as a good sample of economics development in Iran.

'The attitudes of luxurious traveling, currently discussed by critics, are those of traveling by luxurious jets before the 1979 revolution; but the target of ATR airplanes is the low-income levels of the society,” Dadpay said denying those statements regarding purchase of the airplanes which are believed only good for affluent people.

'By developing tourism, the investments flow into hotels and now some international hotels have invested in Iran; since they know Iran has a market with high potential of tourism,” he added.
