TSE World's 2nd Best Performer

EghtesadOnline: Data released by the World Federation of Exchanges ranks Tehran Stock Exchange and Iran Fara Bourse as world's second and third best-performing exchanges in terms of the annual growth in their main index in 2019.

According to a WFE report on members’ performance, TSE’s main index, TEDPIX, closed 377,012.60 at the end of December 2019, which was almost 133.58% higher than a year earlier. IFB's main index, IFX, ended December at 4,109.79 – up 119.37% compared to the year before, Financial Tribune reported.

Jamaica Stock Exchange main index registered 149.7% growth to stand atop the WFE ranking.

In terms of market capitalization, TSE witnessed 123.3% growth over the previous year and was fourth on the list. According to the WFE, by the end of last December the  TSE was worth $320.6 billion. 

IFB's total value reached $67.9 billion. With an annual  152.6% growth rate,  Iran Fara Bourse was the world's third best-performing exchange in terms of market capitalization. 

Market capitalization, commonly called market cap, is the market value of a publicly traded company's outstanding shares. 

According to WFE, the total value of TSE’s share trading in 2019 reached $65.9 billion -- a whopping 323.2% growth over the corresponding period in 2018, making the TSE the second top-performer on the list.

TSE was followed by Iran Fara Bourse whose share trading value registered 385.3% growth in 2019.   

According to the WFE report, the total number of listed companies in TSE increased by 2.48% in 2019, to reach 331. The number was 121 companies for IFB with 6.14% growth in 2019.
