Gilani held a meeting with Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in Tehran on the sidelines of farewell and funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Gilani extended condolences to the Iranian nation and officials over the martyrdom of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution and recalled his numerous visits to Tehran over the years.

Referring to the Islamic Republic's achievements in both the battlefield and diplomacy, the Pakistani Senate chairman said he sees a bright future for Iran.

"I see a bright outlook for Iran, and with Iran's progress, peace and stability in the region will also advance," he said.

Gilani also underlined the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations, saying there is considerable potential for cooperation between Iran's Parliament and Pakistan's Senate.

He added that expanding people-to-people contacts alongside closer engagement between officials of the two countries could open new avenues for broader bilateral relations./tasnim
