EghtesadOnline: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a weekly press conference has voiced Moscow readiness to have good cooperation with Tehran after Iran's presidential elections, slated for May 19.

“Moscow is prepared to cooperate with the upcoming president and government of Iran,” she said, noting that election is an internal affair and Russia will cooperate with the officials who assumes office.

Referring to Iran-Russia ancient and historic ties, she hoped that positive impetus will take place in bilateral ties.

According to IRNA, Tehran-Moscow ties have experienced positive developments since the incumbent government came to power in 2013. President Hassan Rouhani and President Vladimir Putin have so far held talks for nine times.

The latest talks between the two presidents took place in Kremlin on March 28 when they discussed bilateral, regional and international issues, especially Syria crisis and further boosting of bilateral cooperation.

Some 14 documents were signed by the two countries’ officials during the visit to Moscow by the Iranian delegation.

Given Russia’s presence during the talks between Ian and G5+1, Moscow played a major role in compiling and implementation of the landmark nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed in 2015.

Russia also has a wide-scale participation in construction of Iran’s nuclear power plants.
