Iran Downstream, Upstream Steel Output During Two Months

EghtesadOnline: A total of 7.7 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced in Iran during the first two months of the current fiscal year (March 21-May 21), to register a 27% growth compared with last year’s corresponding period.

According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex accounted for 3.01 million tons of the total output, followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex with 1.45 million tons, Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 1.01 million tons, Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 913,723 tons, Goharzamin Iron Ore Company with 737,458 tons, Opal Parsian Sangan with 448,141 tons and Jalalabad Iron Ore Company with 115,353 tons.

The production of granulated iron during the same period stood at 875,723 tons, down 13% year-on-year.

Pellet output hit 6.18 million tons, up 20% YOY. Golgohar was the largest producer with 2.14 million tons, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company with 1.35 million tons, Khouzestan Steel Company with 1.18 million tons, Chadormalu with 693,903 tons and MIDHCO with 805,240 tons, Financial Tribune reported.

The production of direct-reduced iron stood at 3.61 million tons, up 10% YOY. Mobarakeh had the lion’s share with 1.35 million tons, followed by KSC with 609,928 tons, Hormozgan Steel Company with 295,015 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 230,811 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 223,813 tons, Saba Steel Complex with 201,026 tons, MIDHCO with 152,594 tons, Ghadir Iron and Steel Company with 138,316 tons, Mianeh Steel Complex with 133,000 tons, Shadegan Steel Complex with 122,226 tons, Sefiddasht Steel Company with 108,469 tons and Esfahan Steel Company with 36,197 tons.

From the above raw material, a total of 3.32 million tons of slab, bloom, billet and ingot were produced during the period under review up 20% YOY. Mobarakeh Steel Company, with its subsidiaries Saba and Hormozgan Steel, was the biggest producer with 1.69 million tons. 

KSC came next with 658,831 tons and was followed by ESCO with 418,107 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 185,023 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 170,797 tons, Chadormalu Steel Company with 140,253 tons and Iran Alloy Steel Company with 59,872 tons. 

All producers posted growth for the period, with the exception of IASCO whose output dropped 20%. 

Moreover, 1.95 million tons of finished steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled coils, rebar, beams, pipes, wide and galvanized sheets were produced during the two months under review, up 13% YOY. 

MSC and its subsidiary Saba Steel had the largest share of production with 1.19 million tons, followed by ESCO with 408,487 tons, Oxin Steel Company with 121,903 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 107,499 tons, Azarbaijan Steel Company with 51,325 tons, IASCO with 31,273 tons, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Automotive Sheet Company with 30,065 tons and INSIG with 1,896 tons.
