Slight Downtick in Iran's Aluminum Output
EghtesadOnline: Iran's major aluminum producers' output stood at 249,017 tons during the nine months to Dec. 21, which indicates a 1% decrease compared with last year's corresponding period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported.
Flagship producer Iran Aluminum Company accounted for 131,345 tons of the total figure, registering a 3% growth year-on-year, followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company with 71,132 tons (down 10% YOY), and Almahdi Aluminum Company with 46,540 tons (up 2% YOY).
Aluminum production during the month to Dec. 21 stood at 17,986 tons to witness a fall of 36% YOY.
Iran Alumina Company produced 175,205 tons of alumina powder from March 21 to Dec. 21, down 3% YOY, according to Financial Tribune.
Alumina powder output in the month ending Dec. 21 amounted to 16,181 tons, down by 14% compared with last year’s similar period.
Iran has a current aluminum nameplate capacity of 457,000 tons per year, of which about 437,000 tons are operational, Metal Bulletin reported.
The country is planning to increase annual production to 1.5 million tons by 2025.
