Container Terminal Launched in Qeshm FTZ
EghtesadOnline: A four-hectare container terminal was inaugurated on Qeshm Island’s Free Trade Zone via videoconferencing by President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday.
The private sector invested 150 billion rials (about $500,000) in this project that took almost two years to complete. A total of 65 people were employed in the construction of this container terminal that has created 52 jobs for the locals.
Qeshm Island, located on the southern coast of Iran’s shore of the Persian Gulf. It is adjacent to the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Bandar Khamir, both in Hormozgan Province.
It is the largest island in the Persian Gulf and located close to the Omani port of Khasab.
Although it’s 2.5 times the size of Bahrain, it has a small population of just over 150,000 full-time residents.
