Shamkhani: Tehran was quick to condemn military coup in Turkey

Shamkhani made the remarks in an interview with Lebanon's Al-Ahed news outlet.

Some countries in the region only sought their own interests and adopted a double-standard policy, he said. 

According to IRNA, the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the coupe attempt terming it in contravention of democracy and sovereignty of nations, he said. 

Iran strongly condemns any measure disrupting security and stability of Turkey, he said. 

Iran's stance does not limit to Turkey and even Iran's presence in Syria is in line with the same policy, Shamkhani said.
