Decision on FATF within SNSC authority: Ayatollah Khatami
EghtesadOnline: Tehran temporary Friday prayer Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami said that any decision about joining Financial Action Task Force (on Money Laundering) (FATF) lies only within the authority of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
Addressing his second sermon in this week's congregational Friday prayers, he also called avoiding politicizing the issue and any hues and cries, reports IRNA.
Khatami further noted that true that any decision on the issue lies with Supreme National SecurityCouncil, it should be scrutinized scholarly before any decision to that effect.
'Article 153 of the Constitution stipulates that any deal dominating aliens over natural, economic, cultural resources, army and any other spheres is forbidden,' he said.
Member of Experts Assembly also called on the Supreme National Security Council to take into consideration two major issues while making decisions; the country's independence is very significant and if it harms the country's independence, they should reject it decisively.
They should also heed their opposite party who is in welsh of breaking promises, he said, pointing to the enemies' untrustworthiness regarding Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatami contended that the massacre of humans is rooted in Wahhabism which is ruling Saudi Arabia.
Fortunately, during the recent meeting held in Chechnya with Al-Azhar and Sunni scholars in attendance, it was clearly announced that Wahhabism is alien to Islam and it is irrelevant to Islam.
Saudi government which took power in the Arab state 280 years ago have advanced their goals through barbarism, massacre and plunder, Khatami said.
Referring to human situation in Yemen, the cleric also said that what is happening in the country is 'a tableau of Saudi crimes in the past three centuries'.
Saudi government is a government of anti-human, anti-human rights and against Islam and Qur'an, he said, noting that the administration is a friend of the Zionists whose enmity with Islam is very evident.
Touching on the Syrian situation, the substitute Friday prayers leader said that as long as the US is present in the country, it will never see peace and calm.
